Welcome to i-STUTE

i-STUTE is an interdisciplinary centre for Storage, Transformation and Upgrading of Thermal Energy. It develops technologies that aim to reduce energy consumption and deliver cost-effective heating and cooling which will help the UK achieve its target of a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of 80% by 2050.

i-STUTE brings together cutting-edge engineering advances with economic, behavioural and policy expertise to produce solutions that are both technically excellent but also appealing to business, end-users, manufacturers and installers.

The research centre is funded through the UK Research Councils’ Energy Programme. It is a £5.3M project that is developed over 5 years involving four HEIs and an external academic, private and governmental organisation network.

The Centre involves technologists and researchers from the University of Warwick’s School of Engineering and Warwick Business School together with London South Bank University, the University of Ulster and Loughborough University.

Advances in Heat Exchangers for Heating and Cooling

On the 8th March the SIRACH Network will visit the Kelvion research and development laboratory in Fareham for an event that will focus on advances in heat exchangers for heating and cooling.

The visit will include a tour of the state-of-the-art testing facility which includes testing equipment such as an air flow test rig, an inner calorimeter room, an environmental test chamber, as well as a connected, smaller air flow test chamber to enable testing of heat transfer coefficients.
